Douglas R. Eger — CEO


Douglas Eger’s entrepreneurial career has spanned many business categories including technology, healthcare, and media, but has centered on the process of developing enterprises from promising ideas.

Currently, Douglas serves as CEO of Entertaining Ideas, which he co-founded in 2005. His media accomplishments include being Executive Producer of War/Dance, the Academy-nominated and Emmy-winning documentary about Ugandan child soldiers, and Producer of Shoot Down, the Jury Award-winning documentary at the Sonoma Valley Film Festival.

Douglas is the former Chairman and CEO of AMEX-listed Sheffield Pharmaceuticals and has founded several other companies in the areas of technology development and corporate finance, including: EIG, an intellectual property development and venture capital concern; Kachina Capital, a firm that advised companies on strategic and financial matters; TechSource, a technology transfer company serving private and public universities — Harvard Medical School, Carnegie Mellon University, Texas A&M, Baylor College of Medicine, the University California System, and INSERM (French equivalent of the U.S. National Institutes of Health) to name a few; Waterboy Products, a consumer sporting goods manufacturing company which he sold to Igloo Corporation. He has been responsible for raising over $300 million for young growth companies.

Douglas was recently the Chairman of Pet360, Inc., which was the parent company of, a leading online pet health information resource. Pet360 was sold in 2010 to PetFoodDirect (the combined entity is now styled as Pet360). Pet360 recently completed a $20 million private equity financing to expand the core business of PetMD, National Pet Pharmacy (online pharmacy) and — a leading online pet supply retailer.

Cristina Khuly is Creative Director of Entertaining Ideas, which she co-founded in 2005 with Douglas Eger. Cristina is overseeing Entertaining Ideas’ development of projects that aim to entertain and educate, spanning feature and documentary film as well as episodic TV/Internet programming and start-up ventures.

In her capacity as Creative Director, Cristina was responsible for choosing the highly acclaimed documentary film War/Dance for investment. War/Dance went on to receive an Academy Award nomination, two Emmys as well as over 40 festival awards. Her directorial debut, Shoot Down, won the 2007 Best Documentary prize at the Sonoma Valley Film Festival. The documentary tells the story of one of the most pivotal events in U.S.–Cuban relations, the 1996 shoot-down of two U.S. civilian aircraft by Cuban fighter jets. The film was released theatrically in January 2008 and is ranked among the top-grossing political documentaries.

Cristina was recently the Creative Director at, a leading online pet health information network. In her capacity as Creative Director she oversaw the creative transition of to a new parent company, Pet Food Direct, a leading direct to home pet supply online retailer. While at PetMD Cristina also produced and directed two 6 minute webisodes for Nulo, a high end pet food manufacturer. Prior to PetMD Cristina worked with, a top ranking pet-related blog.

Cristina was educated at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI where she studied sculpture. She has been working as an artist in such media as sculpture, painting, industrial design, graphic design and film.
